Continental Paper Grading has been using The MIS Department as its 3rd party support group since they started in business. They support our network, both hardware and operating software. We have used them on numerous projects including extending the scope of our ERM package, building our server room and cabling the office. They are very knowledgeable about every aspect of the IT industry saving us a lot of money through the virtualization of some of our servers and have linked our office in Chicago with our remote locations in the US and with our subsidiary in Mississauga Canada through the cloud. They did this not only for data (all data and ERP systems are on the Chicago servers) but also for VoIP phone systems (all inter-company calls between all offices are via extensions) at zero cost to us. In the process of setting this up, MIS configured the system for business continuation and disaster recovery with built-in redundancy and off-site back-ups. This was partially tested in the Chicago snowstorm of February 2, 2011 when everyone in Chicago worked from home. This was transparent to our suppliers and customers. Everyone’s desk phone was forwarded to ring at their home or cell phone. All incoming faxes were routed via email to the correct CSR, and all outbound faxes were likewise sent from the desktop as email.
MIS has seen us through many phases of expansion of our IT area and we confidently expect them to be with us for the foreseeable future.
